That awkward moment

     That awkward moment when your the only black kid in the class and we are talking about civil rights. People always feel it is necessary to observe my reaction to anything that is said. Its weird because they look at me for things that aren't even close to being racist. I think it is very funny because they must be expecting me to run out of the class and flip out. Why would anyone be angry that civil rights were passed. So obviously I am going to sit there like everyone else.
      Another example of this awkward moment is in English every once in a while. It happens when we read a book with racial slurs in it. Why would anyone be upset because of things that were written in a book 100 years ago. I think it is a great time because there are not to many times when you get to read racial slurs aloud to a class so these times should be celebrated not looked down upon.
